Not often do you get full production FREE albums available. Well, Fresh Body Shop does just that, and with some style.
Between Radiohead and Muse on acoustic guitars and indie sensibilities you’ll find Frenchman “Pedro”, who sits behind this project. Director’s Cut is but one of his albums, but quite a fresh one at that.
The danger with acoustic albums, or one’s relying on acoustic guitars strummed, along with drums etc, is that it can easily become a bit monotonous, samey samey. But in this case the beat, rhythms etc gets switched along quite nicely. It keeps you interested from the beginning to end.
The raspy voice thing works very well here.
Criticism? Yeah, it’s a darkish, humourless sound. It’s great as background, but when you go and concentrate on the music, musically you’ll find more than enough, but atmospherically it does sit a bit in the minor key (for me), but that obviously depends on how you react to different types of music.
All in all – great album.
